How to use the eyewash correctly (一) :Open and close the eyewash

When workers are accidentally splashed with toxic and hazardous substances or liquids on the eyes, face, hands, body, clothing, etc., use an eyewash device for emergency flushing or body showering to dilute the concentration of harmful substances and prevent further s damage. It also increases the chances of successful treatment for the wounded in the hospital. Therefore, the eyewash is a very important emergency prevention device.

Maston’s safety equipment reminds you: the water inlet control valve should be opened before using the eyewash. In the event of an emergency, be sure to follow the steps below.

Opening of the eyewash:
1. Grasp the handle and push it forward to make the water spray out (if equipped with an eyewash pedal, you can step on the pedal);

2. After the eyewash valve is opened, the water flow will automatically open the dust cover, bend over to face the water flow, open the eyelids with the thumb and forefinger of both hands, and rinse thoroughly. The recommended rinse time is not less than 15 minutes;

3. When washing other parts of the body, grasp the handle of the shower valve and pull it down to make the water spray out. The injured person should stand under the shower basin. Do not use your hands to assist in flushing to avoid secondary injury. After use, the lever must be reset upward.

Closing of the eyewash:
1. Close the water inlet control valve (if there are always people in the work area, it is recommended to keep the water inlet control valve open, if no one is working, it is recommended to close it, especially in winter);
2. Wait for more than 15 seconds, and then push back the push plate counterclockwise to close the eyewash valve (wait for more than 15 seconds to drain the water in the eyewash pipe);
3. Reset the dust cover (depending on the specific situation of the equipment).
