Lockout Box: Secure Key Control for LOTO Safety

2026-09-30

The possession and control of energy-isolating means during the maintenance of equipment is a critical element of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO). When multiple authorized employees are involved, a lockout box is an effective solution to handle your keys and each person's lock.

Procedure Overview

The entire procedure is straightforward. A padlock is used to protect every locking point on the machine. The keys are then gathered and put in the lockout box. Every authorized employee puts their own lockout lock on the box. They each take off their own padlock when the job is done. In case of group control the keys are sealed until the last member opens the lock.

The BD-8811, BD-8812 and BD-8813 lockout boxes are uniquely developed for different needs of organization. BD-8811 is designed for single user, with one locking hole. It’s a 13-hole locking system suitable for group co-management. BD-8813 features 13 locking holes and one clear side for visual storage of multiple workers in a box.

This series can be applied in conjunction with safety padlocks, lockout hasps, lockout tags to form a workplace LOTO safety system. This simplifies the lockout procedure to coordinate while allowing each authorized employee to retain control of their own lock lock. For factories, workshops, electrical maintenance places and industrial production plants, choosing the right lockout box can enable a clear and straightforward key management procedure during maintenance and repair works.
